

Dr. William Johnson
Dr. Johnson was born in Charlotte, N.C. and spent most of his childhood in Birmingham. He attended The University of Alabama and then went to The University Of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He was president of his graduating class in medical school. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Carraway Methodist Medical Center. Following residency training, Dr. Johnson practiced in Decatur, AL. before returning to Birmingham to join Dr. Foster in 1988.
Dr. Johnson is a member of The American College of OB/GYN and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has served as president of the Greater Birmingham Ob-Gyn Society. He is also a member of the Jefferson County Medical Society and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. Dr. Johnson has a particular interest in pelvic organ prolapse and female urinary incontinence and is a member of the American Urogynecology Society.
Dr. Johnson is married and he and his wife have four daughters and now four grandchildren. Their family is one of the founding families of Mtn. Brook Community Church and Dr. Johnson has served as an elder since the church began in 1992. While practicing in Decatur, AL, Dr. Johnson helped start the Tennessee Valley Sav-A-Life Organization. He now serves as a medical director for Sav-A-Life East and Lifeline Adoption ministry. He is a member of the Shades Valley Rotary Club and has previously served in leadership positions with John Croyle’s Big Oak Ranch and Immanuel Counseling Ministry.
Dr. Johnson enjoys family activities, golf, gardening and travel.
